Amy Syck: My name is Amy Im 27 years old and this is my back story up to Saving Grace. I am a wife to an amazingly supportive firefighter, mother to two awesome children who are my world, and most important child of God. I think if people where to describe me they would say passionate, loving, giving, artsy, and loyal. My life has been full of ups and downs and its take me a long time to realize that i am just here on borrowed time. We all have our talents from God that were given to bring the light and love to others. Its up to us how we use those talents to bring glory to his kingdom and helps others. I have always been into artsy stuff as long as I can remember but never really did anything with it. I guess you could say i have always been search for what my “calling” in life has been, it wasn’t till I went to the Passion 2012 conference that my life was forever changed. During the four days that we spent in that GA dome my eyes were opened not only of Gods love for me but the horrific slavery that still exists today. During the last days I dedicated my life to Christ and my heart started to really break for these people who where in bondage. After leaving the conference there would be nights where I would lay awake and wonder what I could really do because I am just one person. I kept praying for him to break my heart for what breaks his( I know its from a song but most worship songs make the best prayers). My main thought was that I’m a stay at home mother living off one salary how could I change the world. Then it came to me plain as day ..Saving Grace.
One Year Update
It has been over a year since I found out about slavery and became a follower of Jesus. I won’t say it has been easy but what in life really is without working hard and going through those valleys. Over the past year I have helped form a non-profit here in Atlanta called The Mercy Project.
We hold “Freedom Events” in churches to educate and promote action. We’re doing this through using educational tools and then having local organizations for people to learn about and get plugged in right there. This is a God ordained thing that he has had his hand on the whole way. We are 6 women from all walks of life and have something unique to bring to the table. I am so blessed to having them in my life and to be able to call them family.
I have also had the pleasure of going to India in April through NorthStar church. The Mercy Project went as well and it was amazing to see how God is working over there. We worked with girls and boys in the red light district and I am still blown away at the sparkle that is in their eyes. To be able to see the transforming power of God in such a dark place with very little resources humbles you and still gives me a reality check to this day. If you are interested in finding out more about what The Mercy Project does and how to hold a “Freedom Event” email us at email@example.com.
Saving Grace is forever evolving in to the direction God leads me. He has brought me leads from Africa, India, Peru, and soon to be Indonesia. A new thing that has come about is the cross promotions that I have been doing through social media. If you are interested in getting your product seen email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. The one thing that I am feeling lead to share and something that has been put on my heart since January 2013 is “be the light”. The subject can be a tough and one that most people don’t want to talk about but through Christ we can bring his love and change a negative in to a positive.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me through this past year and here is to another year!!!
